Chain Rail Not Included With This Listing

This is the powerhead on its own, for replacing a failed motor where the existing rail is in good condition and staying in place. It does not include a rail.

If you are replacing an existing MS125MYQ Commander Extreme, this powerhead is a straightforward bolt-on upgrade. It mounts using the same fittings and hardware, with no need to modify the rail or motor assembly.

If you are installing from scratch, or your old rail is worn, you need the full MS127MYQ kit with the 3.3m chain rail instead.

Worth knowing on this model: the heavy lifting ratings depend on the rail. The 286kg rating requires a chain rail with Safety IR Beams and slow speed. If you are fitting this powerhead to an older belt rail, the door weight limit is set by that rail, not by the motor.

Built For Heavy And Custom Doors

The Commander Extreme II is Merlin’s most powerful residential opener, made for doors that standard openers cannot handle. It is engineered for cyclone rated and high wind regions, and for heavy custom doors in timber, solid steel or oversized panel.

Lifting capacity runs in three tiers. Up to 150kg as standard. Up to 286kg with Safety IR Beams fitted and the opener set to slow speed on a chain rail. Above that and up to 350kg with beams, slow speed and extruded aluminium rails.

If your door is under 150kg and noise matters more than capacity, the belt driven MS107MYQ Commander Elite II powerhead is the quieter option.

Merlin M-BBU24V Battery Backup keeps the door working during a power cut, which matters most on a heavy door you cannot easily lift by hand.

Merlin myQ Smartphone Bundle adds phone control, scheduling and open or left-open alerts. It includes the Safety IR Beams, which are required for myQ to work and are also what unlocks the 286kg lifting rating. If your door runs over 150kg you need the beams regardless, so the bundle is the sensible way to buy them.

The Commander Extreme II sits at the top of Merlin’s residential sectional range. Where a standard opener runs 600N to 1000N, this one delivers 1200N, and it is rated for storm prone and high wind regions where a door takes real load every time it moves. Bought as a powerhead, it is the fix for a motor that has failed on an otherwise sound installation.

A quiet DC motor with soft start and soft stop keeps operation smooth despite the extra power. Automatic force sensing monitors and adjusts the force needed with every cycle, and the premium automatic safety reverse stops and reverses the door if it meets an obstruction on the way down. A manual release cord lets you open the door by hand during a power outage.

The included E970M remote controls use Security+ 2.0 rolling code encryption, generating a new code each time a button is pressed. By transmitting across 433.30, 433.92 and 434.54 MHz the remotes select the strongest frequency each time, which virtually eliminates interference and stops code grabbing devices replaying the signal to open your door.
