Rail Not Included With This Listing

This is the powerhead on its own, for replacing a failed motor where the existing rail is in good condition and staying in place. It does not include a rail.

If you are replacing an MS135MYQ Commander Platinum, this powerhead is a straightforward bolt-on upgrade. It mounts using the same fittings and hardware, and the extruded aluminium rail system carries across unchanged.

If you are installing from scratch, or your old rail is worn, you need the full MS137MYQ kit with the 3.3m rail instead.

Worth knowing on this model: the 350kg rating depends on the extruded aluminium rail as much as the motor. Fitting this powerhead to a standard pressed steel C-rail will not give you 350kg, because the rail sets the limit rather than the motor.

The Heaviest Doors Merlin Will Automate

The Commander Platinum II is the top of Merlin’s residential sectional range, rated to 350kg with 1300N of pulling force. Nothing else in the range goes higher. It is built for premium, custom and oversized sectional doors in solid timber, stone clad and oversized panel.

Even bought as a powerhead, myQ comes in the box. The Connectivity Bundle and the Wireless Safety Beam Kit are both included, so smartphone control, scheduling and Timer to Close work from day one with nothing further to buy.

If your door is under 286kg, the MS127MYQ Commander Extreme II powerhead covers it at lower cost, though myQ and beams are optional extras on that model.

Recommended Add-Ons

Merlin M-BBU24V Battery Backup is the one accessory worth adding. On a 350kg custom door, lifting by hand during a power cut is not realistic, so backup power matters more here than on any other opener in the range.

The myQ Smartphone Bundle is not needed with this model. The Gateway and safety beams are already included.

The Commander Platinum II is built for premium, custom and oversized sectional doors, the ones a standard opener will not move. Bought as a powerhead, it is the fix for a motor that has failed on an otherwise sound installation, keeping your existing rail and door hardware in place.

A quiet 24V DC motor with thermal overload protection keeps operation smooth despite the power on tap, which matters on an internal garage with living space above. Soft start and soft stop reduce wear and noise, automatic force sensing adjusts the force needed with every cycle, and the premium automatic safety reverse stops and reverses the door if it meets an obstruction on the way down.

The Wireless Safety Beam System means no cable to run down the door tracks and back to the opener, which on a retrofit saves real time. The beams stop the door closing if something breaks the beam, which matters more on a door of this weight than on any other in the range.

The included myQ Connectivity Bundle means smartphone control works from day one. Monitor and control the door from anywhere, set schedules, share guest access, and get real time alerts when the door opens, closes or is left open.

The supplied E970M remote controls use Security+ 2.0 rolling code encryption, generating a new code with every press. By transmitting across 433.30, 433.92 and 434.54 MHz they select the strongest frequency each time, which virtually eliminates interference and gives up to 18% better range than earlier Merlin models. Corner-to-corner LED lighting and compliance with AS/NZS 60335.2.95 come as standard.
